CONNOR AND SONIA
Connor and Sonia is a dramatic tragicomedy about a marriage exploding when deep secrets — especially those linked to sexuality and identity — come to the surface. The script also portrays the Latin American diaspora in London, revealing the conflicts, identity and dreams of one of the fastest-growing communities in the United Kingdom, which nonetheless remains without a voice.
After 15 years of marriage, Connor reveals to the world (and to Sonia) his true sexual orientation. Instead of separating, they decide to stay together, reinventing love, their life together, and each one’s freedom.
She is Brazilian. He is Irish. In the heart of multicultural London, the story exposes, with bittersweet humour, the contradictions of the Latin American diaspora — the United Kingdom’s “invisible community”.
Between cafés, salsa clubs and intense characters, the film blends British irony with Latin warmth to tell an unexpected and truthful comedy.
